4:1

使徒正對人民講話的時候、祭司長們（有古卷作︰祭司們）和守殿官跟撒都該人忽然來了，

And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,

4:2

很討厭使徒教訓人民，傳揚耶穌身上所發生的、那從人中起來的復活，

Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

4:3

便下手拿住他們，放在拘留所里，要等到第二天，因為天已經晚了。

And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide.

4:4

但聽道的人有許多信的﹔人數添到五千。

Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.

4:5

到第二天、民間的議員、長老和經學士、就在耶路撒冷聚集。

And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,

4:6

大祭司亞拿、和該亞法、約拿單（有古卷作︰約翰）、亞力山大、以及所有屬于大祭司家族的人、都在座。

And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.

4:7

他們叫使徒站在當中，就查問說︰「你們用什么能力、奉什么名、作這件事呢？」

And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?

4:8

那時彼得、充滿聖靈、對他們說︰

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

4:9

「民間的議員和長老阿，今天我們若因在病人身上所行的善事而受審問這個人是因著什么（或譯︰因著誰）而得救治，

If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;

4:10

那么你們眾人和以色列眾民就該知道，是因著你們所釘十字架的、上帝從人中所才活起來的、拿撒勒人耶穌基督的名﹔是因著這個、（有古卷作︰不因著別的）這人才站在你們面前、康健無病的。

Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

4:11

這耶穌是你們匠人所藐視的石頭，是那成了房角石之頭一塊的。

This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

4:12

因著別人（或譯︰別的）、并無拯救﹔天下也沒有別的名賜在人間、我們必須靠著而得救的。（有古卷無第12節）」

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

4:13

官長們見彼得約翰坦然無懼，又理會他們是沒有學問的外行人，就希奇。他們既認得他們是曾經同耶穌在一起的，

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

4:14

又看見那得治好的人和他們一同站著，就沒有什么可辯駁的。

And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

4:15

便發命令叫他們退出議院，就彼此商議

But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

4:16

說︰「這些人我們要怎么辦呢？有一個眾所周知的神跡藉著他們行了出來，這對住耶路撒冷的人都很顯然，我們不能否認。

Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.

4:17

但是為要避免這事越發散布在民間，我們總要恐嚇他們，叫他們不可再奉這個名對人講論。」

But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.

4:18

于是把他們叫來，囑咐他們絕對不可奉耶穌的名發言論或教訓人。

And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

4:19

但是彼得約翰卻回答他們說︰「聽你們、過于聽上帝，這在上帝面前對不對，你們自己判斷吧。

But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.

4:20

我們所看見所聽見的、我們不能不講。」

For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

4:21

官長們又威嚇一番，就把他們釋放了。為了人民的緣故、官長們都找不出怎樣來刑罰使徒，因為眾人為了所發生的事都將榮耀歸與上帝。

So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.

4:22

這醫病的神跡行在他身上的那個人、有四十多歲了。

For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.

4:23

二人既被釋放，就到自己的人那里去，把祭司長和長老所向他們說的一切話都報告了。

And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.

4:24

他們聽見了，就同心合意提高了聲音向上帝說︰「主宰阿，你是造天地海和其中萬物的﹔

And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:

4:25

你曾藉著聖靈（有古卷無︰藉著聖靈）、托你仆人、我們先祖大衛、的口說︰『眾外國為什么怒吼？列族之民為什么謀算虛妄的事？

Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?

4:26

地上君王列陣站著，眾執政者聚集在一處，敵擋主，敵擋他所膏立的』。

The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

4:27

希律和本丟彼拉多、同外國人和以色列眾族之民、真地在這城里聚集，攻打你所膏立的聖仆耶穌，

For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

4:28

要作你手和你計畫所豫定必成的一切事。

For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

4:29

如今主阿，鑒察他們的恐嚇哦，使你仆人能完全放膽無懼講你的道﹔同時伸出你的手來醫病，使神跡奇事、藉你聖仆耶穌的名、行了出來。」

And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

4:30

By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

4:31

祈求完了、他們聚集的地方都搖動了﹔眾人都充滿著聖靈，放膽無懼講上帝之道。

And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

4:32

那一群信眾都一心一意﹔沒有一個人說他的資財有一樣是自己的﹔他們的東西都大家共有。

And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

4:33

使徒用大能力提出主耶穌復活的見証來﹔眾人都大蒙恩惠。

And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

4:34

他們中間沒有一個貧乏的，因為凡是業主、有園地或房屋的、都變賣了，把所賣的價錢拿來，

Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

4:35

放在使徒腳旁﹔照人所需要的分給各人。

And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

4:36

有一個利未人約瑟、按籍貫是居比路人、被使徒稱為巴拿巴的﹝巴拿巴才譯出來就是『鼓勵人的人』﹞﹔

And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,

4:37

他有田地變賣了，把錢拿來，放在使徒腳前。

Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
