奉上帝旨意做基督耶穌使徒的保羅、和兄弟提摩太，寫信給在哥林多的上帝教會、同那在全亞該亞的眾聖徒。

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:
|

|
愿你們、由上帝我們的父和主耶穌基督、蒙恩平安。
|
|
|
Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
|
|
1:3
|
愿祝頌歸于我們主耶穌基督的父上帝、憐憫的父、賜各樣安慰的上帝。
|
|
|
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
|
|
1:4
|
在我們的一切苦難中、他安慰我們，使我們能藉著我們自己受上帝所安慰的安慰、去安慰在各樣苦難中的人。
|
|
|
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

|
因為基督所受的苦楚怎樣溢流到我們身上來，我們所得的安慰也怎樣藉著基督而溢流出去。
|
|
|
For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
|
|

|
我們或是受苦難，那是為要使你們受安慰得拯救﹔或是受安慰呢、那也是為要使你們受安慰﹔這安慰運用動力于堅忍，使你們能忍受我們所受同樣的苦。
|
|
|
And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
|
|

|
我們為你們而存的盼望是確定的（對此段語句彼此間之關系、諸古卷排列法各有出入），因為知道你們既有分于受苦，也照樣必有分于受安慰。
|
|
|
And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
|

|
兄弟們，我們不愿意你們不明白我們從前在亞西亞所受的苦難，就是︰極受重壓，出于力所能勝之外，甚至到了絕望，連活著的希望都沒有﹔
|
|
|
For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
|
|

|
自己心里也已斷定必死。這是要使我們不倚靠自己，乃倚靠那叫死人活起來的上帝。
|
|
|
But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
|
|
1:10
|
他已經緩救我們脫離這么大的死亡，將來還要援救（有古卷作︰他還在援救）﹔我們一向所寄望的他、將來還要援救。
|
|
|
Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;
|
|
1:11
|
你們也該為我們的緣故用祈禱相支持，這樣，既有這么多人、為我們之得救而禱告，就必有這么多人為了上帝向我們所施的慈恩、而為我們感謝上帝。（以上兩節意難確定）
|
|
|
Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.
|
|
1:12
|
我們所夸耀的是這一點︰我們良知的明証指出我們在世界上之起居為人、是怎樣本著上帝所賜的聖善（有古卷作︰純誠）和純潔，不是本著屬肉體的智慧，乃是本著上帝的恩﹔對于你們、更是如此。
|
|
|
For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.

|
我們寫給你們的、無非是你們所誦讀所明白的。
|
|
|
For we write none other things unto you, than what ye read or acknowledge; and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end;
|
|
1:14
|
你們對我們雖只有几分的明白，我還盼望你們會澈底明白，明白在我們主耶穌的日子、我們是你們所夸耀的，正如你們是我們所夸耀的一樣。
|
|
|
As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as ye also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus.
|

1:15
|
既有了這樣的深信，我早就有意思要先到（或譯︰我原就有意思要到）你們那里去、讓你們重得恩惠﹔
|
|
|
And in this confidence I was minded to come unto you before, that ye might have a second benefit;
|
|
1:16
|
就是、我要從你們那里經過、上馬其頓﹔再從馬其頓回到你們那里，然后蒙你們送行、往猶太去。
|
|
|
And to pass by you into Macedonia, and to come again out of Macedonia unto you, and of you to be brought on my way toward Judaea.
|
|
1:17
|
那么我既有了這個意思，難道還有輕浮的態度么？還是我所定的意是按著肉體而定意，以致在我也有忽是忽非么？
|
|
|
When I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be yea yea, and nay nay?

|
我指著可信可靠的上帝來說︰我們對你們說的話并沒有是而又非的。
|
|
|
But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay.
|
|
1:19
|
上帝的兒子耶穌基督，那在你們中間藉著我們、藉著我跟西拉（希臘文作︰西勒瓦）和提摩太、而被宣傳的、并沒有是而又非的︰在基督（希臘文作︰他）只有一個『是』。
|
|
|
For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.
|
|
1:20
|
上帝的應許、無論多么多，在基督（希臘文作︰他）都是『是』的﹔所以我們說『阿門』（即︰『誠心所愿』的意思）時也藉著基督，使榮耀藉著我們而歸于上帝。
|
|
|
For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

|
那使我們同你們堅固于基督里、并膏派了我們的、乃是上帝﹔
|
|
|
Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;
|
|
1:22
|
是他蓋印了我們，并先賜聖靈做質定在我們心里。
|
|
|
Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
|
|
1:23
|
我指著我的性命呼求上帝作証，我沒有再往哥林多去、是顧惜你們。
|
|
|
Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth.
|
|
1:24
|
這不是說我們做主來轄管你們的信仰，乃是說我們為了你們的喜樂而合作同工﹔因為你們在信仰上已經站穩了。
|
|
|
Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.
|
