9:1

耶穌往前走的時候，看見一個人是生來就瞎眼的。

And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.

9:2

門徒就問耶穌說︰「老師（希臘文作︰拉比），是誰犯了罪、使這人生來就瞎眼呢？是這人呢？還是他父母呢？」

And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

9:3

耶穌回答說︰「也不是這人犯了罪，也不是他父母﹔乃是要讓上帝的作為在他身上顯出來罷了。

Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

9:4

還是白日，我們（有古卷作︰我）必須作那差我者的工﹔黑夜一到，就沒有人能作工了。

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

9:5

我在世界的時候，我乃是世界的光。」

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

9:6

說了這些話，就吐唾才在地上，用唾才和成泥，把泥鋪在瞎子的眼睛上，

When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,

9:7

對他說︰「你去西羅亞池子里洗」﹝西羅亞才出來就是『送出』的意思﹞。那人就去洗，回來便能看見了。

And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

9:8

同鄉們和那些先前常見他做要飯的就說︰「這個人不是那常坐著要飯的么？」

The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?

9:9

另有人說「就是這個人」﹔又有人說﹔「不是，卻很像他」。那人便說︰「我就是」。

Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.

9:10

于是他們對他說︰「那你眼睛是怎么開的呢？」

Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?

9:11

那人回答說︰「那名叫耶穌的那個人和泥涂抹我的眼睛，對我說︰『你去西羅亞里面洗』﹔我就去，一洗便看得見了。」

He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.

9:12

他們對他說︰「那人在哪里？」他說︰「我不知道。」

Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.

9:13

他們就把從前瞎眼的帶到法利賽人那里。

They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind.

9:14

耶穌和泥開他眼睛、那一天是安息日。

And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.

9:15

于是又一次法利賽人也問那人是怎么得看見的。那人對他們說︰「他把泥鋪在我的眼睛上﹔我一洗，便能看見了。」

Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.

9:16

于是法利賽人中有的說︰「這個人不是從上帝來的，因為他不守安息日。」另有人說︰「一個有罪的人怎能行這樣的神跡呢？」他們中間就起了分裂。

Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.

9:17

于是他們又對瞎子說︰「他開了你的眼，你說他怎么樣呢？」瞎子說︰「他是個神言人。」

They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.

9:18

關于瞎子的事、猶太人不信他從前瞎眼、后來看得見，直等到把那得看見的人的父母叫來，

But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.

9:19

問他們說︰「這是不是你們的兒子、你們所說生來就是瞎眼的呢？那么、他現在怎能看見呢？」

And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?

9:20

他父母就回答說︰「我們知道這是我們的兒子，又是生來就瞎眼的。

His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:

9:21

至于他如今怎么能看見，我們卻不知道﹔誰開了他的眼、我們也不知道﹔你們問他吧，他已經成年了，他自己會說他自己的事的。」

But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.

9:22

他父母說這些話，是因為怕猶太人﹔因為猶太人已經約定了、若有人承認耶穌為基督，就該從會堂里被革除。

These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.

9:23

故此他父母說︰「他已經成年了，你們問他吧。」

Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.

9:24

于是他們第二次把從前瞎眼的人叫來，對他說︰「你把榮耀歸與上帝，向他承認吧！我們知道這個人是個罪人。」

Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.

9:25

那人就回答說︰「他是不是個罪人，我倒不知道﹔我只知道一件事︰我本來瞎眼，現在我能看見了。」

He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.

9:26

于是他們對他說︰「他向你作了什么？怎么開了你的眼呢？」

Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?

9:27

他回答他們說︰「我已經告訴了你們，你們不聽﹔為什么又想要聽呢？莫非你們也想要做他的門徒么？」

He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?

9:28

他們就辱罵他說︰「你、是那個人的門徒，我們、乃是摩西的門徒。

Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.

9:29

上帝知道上帝對摩西說過話﹔只是這個人呢、我們不知道他是從哪里來的阿。」

We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.

9:30

那人回答他們說︰「可希奇的就在這一點了！他開了我的眼，你們竟不知道他是從哪里來的！

The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.

9:31

我們知道上帝不聽有罪的人﹔但若有人是敬拜上帝的，又遵行他的旨意，上帝才聽他。

Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

9:32

從今世之初以來，沒聽說過有人開了生來瞎眼者的眼睛阿。

Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.

9:33

這人若不是從上帝來的，他就不能作什么了。」

If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.

9:34

他們回答他說︰「你、你全然生于罪中，還來教訓我們么？」就革除他。

They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.

9:35

耶穌聽說他們把瞎子革除了。遇見了他、就說︰「你信人子（有古卷作︰上帝的兒子）么？」

Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?

9:36

那人回答說︰「主阿，誰是人子，讓我信他呀？」

He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?

9:37

耶穌對他說︰「你已經看見他，這同你說話的就是阿。

And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.

9:38

他說︰「主阿，我信」﹔就伏地拜耶穌。

And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.

9:39

耶穌說︰「為了審判、我才到這世界上來，使看不見的能看見，而能看見的反而成了瞎眼！」

And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.

9:40

同耶穌在那里的法利賽人、有的聽見了這些話，就對耶穌說︰「難道連我們也瞎了眼么？」

And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?

9:41

耶穌對他們說︰「你們如果瞎了眼，就沒有罪了﹔但如今你們說『我們能看見』﹔那你們的罪就還存在著。」

Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
