在該撒利亞有一個名叫哥尼流，是那叫作意大利營的一個百夫長。

There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,
|
|

|
他是個虔誠人，他同全家都敬畏上帝﹔他對人民多行施舍，時常祈求上帝。
|
|
|
A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.
|
|
10:3
|
大約白天三點（希臘文︰第九時辰），他在異象中顯然看見上帝的一個天使進來找他，對他說︰「哥尼流。」
|
|
|
He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.
|
|

|
哥尼流定睛看他，很覺得懼怕，就說︰「是什么事呢，主阿？」天使對他說︰「你的禱告你的施舍已經上升，在上帝面前蒙記住了。
|
|
|
And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
|

|
如今你要打發人往約帕去，邀請一個稱為彼得的西門來。
|
|
|
And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:
|
|
10:6
|
這個人住在一個硝皮匠西門家里作客，他的房子就在海邊上。」
|
|
|
He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.
|
|
10:7
|
向他說話的天使離開了之后，哥尼流便叫了兩個家仆、和常伺候他的一個敬虔的兵來，
|
|
|
And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;
|
|

|
把一切事向他們述說一遍，就差遣他們往約帕去。
|
|
|
And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.
|
|

|
第二天、那些人正在行路、將近那城的時候、約在中午十二點（希臘文︰第六時辰）、彼得上房頂去禱告。
|
|
|
On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:
|
|

|
覺得餓了，想要吃。人正豫備飯的時候、彼得魂游象外。
|
|
|
And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,
|
|

|
看見天開著，有一件器物降下來、像一塊大床單、系著四角、放下來在地上。
|
|
|
And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
|
|
10:12
|
里面有地上各樣的四足動物、昆虫、和空中的飛鳥。
|
|
|
Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
|
|
10:13
|
有聲音對他說︰「彼得，你起來，宰來吃。」
|
|
|
And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
|
|
10:14
|
彼得說︰「主阿，千萬不可﹔因為各樣俗污不潔淨之物、我從來沒有吃過。」
|
|
|
But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
|
|
10:15
|
聲音又第二次對他說︰「上帝所潔淨的、你別當作俗污了。」
|
|
|
And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
|
|
10:16
|
這樣有三次，那器物就被接上、到天上去了。
|
|
|
This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.
|
|
10:17
|
彼得心里很為難，不知道所看見的異象是什么意思。正在那時、哥尼流所差遣的人已經詢問到西門的家，站在大門口，
|
|
|
Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate,
|
|

|
呼喊著查問、有沒有稱彼得的西門住在那里作客。
|
|
|
And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.
|
|
10:19
|
彼得還在沉思默想那異象的時候，聖靈對他說︰「有（有古卷作兩個﹔有古卷作三個）人正找你呢。」
|
|
|
While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
|
|
10:20
|
你要起來，下去，同他們去，不要疑惑，因為是我差遣了他們的。」
|
|
|
Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.
|
|
10:21
|
于是彼得下去見那些人，說︰「我就是你們所找的人﹔你們來，是為了什么緣故？」
|
|
|
Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?
|
|
10:22
|
他們說︰「百夫長哥尼流、一個正義而敬畏上帝的人、受猶太全民族所稱贊的、曾經得了一位聖天使傳的神喻，叫他打發人邀請你到他家里去，要聽你的話語。」
|
|
|
And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.
|

|
彼得便請他們進去，款待他們。第二天彼得就起身，和他們一同出發，還有屬約帕的几個弟兄和他一同去。
|
|
|
Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
|
|

|
又第二天他（有古卷作︰他們）就進了該撒利亞。哥尼流早已招集了他的親戚和相知的朋友，等待著他們。
|
|
|
And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.
|
|
10:25
|
彼得一進去，哥尼流就迎接他，俯伏在他腳前拜他。
|
|
|
And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
|
|
10:26
|
彼得拉他起來，說︰「起來，我也是人！」
|
|
|
But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
|
|
10:27
|
就和他交談著進去，見有許多一同聚會的人，
|
|
|
And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.
|
|
10:28
|
便對他們說︰「你們自己也知道猶太族的人和異族人接近或往來，本是違背律例的﹔但對于我、上帝已經指示、不要說什么人是凡俗而不潔淨的。
|
|
|
And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
|
|
10:29
|
故此我一被邀請就來，并沒有反問一聲。那么請問，你們打發人邀請我來，是什么意思？」
|
|
|
Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?
|
|
10:30
|
哥尼流說︰「前四天這一點鐘，我在家里正守著下午三點（希臘文︰第九時辰）的禱告，忽然有一個人穿著光明的衣裳，站在我面前，
|
|
|
And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
|
|

|
說︰「哥尼流，在上帝面前、你的禱告已蒙垂聽，你的施舍已蒙記住了。
|
|
|
And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.
|
|
10:32
|
所以你要打發人往約帕去，把那稱為彼得的西門請來﹔這個人住在海邊一個硝皮匠西門家里作客。」
|
|
|
Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.
|

|
我登時就打發人去找你﹔你來到了很好！如今我們都在上帝面前，要聽主所吩咐你的一切話。」
|
|
|
Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.
|
|

|
彼得就開口說︰「我真地領會上帝不以貌取人﹔
|
|
|
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
|
|
10:35
|
但是各國中敬畏他而行義的人，都是他所接納的。
|
|
|
But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
|
|
10:36
|
他將話語傳送給以色列人，藉著萬人之主、耶穌基督、傳和平的福音。
|
|
|
The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
|
|
10:37
|
你們自己也知道、在約翰宣傳的洗禮以后、這福音的話語怎樣從加利利起、直傳遍了全猶太。
|
|
|
That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
|
|
10:38
|
論到拿撒勒的耶穌，上帝怎樣將聖靈和能力膏了他。他走遍四方行善事，醫好了一切被魔鬼壓制的人，因為上帝和他同在。
|
|
|
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
|
|
10:39
|
我們呢、就是他在猶太地區和耶路撒冷所行的一切事、的見証人。人竟把他挂在木架上殺掉了！
|
|
|
And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:
|
|
10:40
|
第三天、上帝卻使這個人活了起來，并給他權能得以顯現，
|
|
|
Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;
|
|
10:41
|
不是顯于眾民，乃是顯于上帝所先選派的見証人，顯于我們這些在他從死人中復起以后和他同吃同喝的人。
|
|
|
Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
|
|
10:42
|
上帝囑咐我們向人民宣傳，鄭重地証明這人就是上帝所立定、要做活人死人之審判主的。
|
|
|
And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.
|
|
10:43
|
眾神言人也為這人（或譯︰這事）作見証說︰「凡信靠他的，就可以藉著他的名而得罪赦。』」
|
|
|
To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
|
|
10:44
|
彼得還講這些話的時候，聖靈就降在所有聽道的人身上。
|
|
|
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
|
|
10:45
|
那些奉割禮、和彼得一同來的信徒，因聖靈這白白的恩賜居然也傾注于外國人身上，就驚奇。
|
|
|
And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
|

|
因為他們聽見這些人卷舌頭說話，尊崇上帝為大。
|
|
|
For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
|
|
10:47
|
于是彼得應時說︰「這些人既受了聖靈跟我們一樣，誰能攔阻他們不受水的洗禮呢？」
|
|
|
Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
|
|
10:48
|
就吩咐他們要在耶穌基督名內受洗。他們便請求彼得多住几天。
|
|
|
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
|
