19:1
|
亞波羅在哥林多的時候，保羅走遍了內地上邊的區域，就來到以弗所，遇見几個門徒﹔
|
|
|
And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
|
|
19:2
|
就問他們說︰「你們信的時候、受了聖靈沒有？」他們對他說︰「沒有，我們甚至還沒聽見過有聖靈賜下來呢！」
|
|
|
He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
|
|
19:3
|
保羅說︰「那么你們受了洗歸于什么呢？」他們說︰「歸受了約翰的洗禮。」
|
|
|
And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
|
|
19:4
|
保羅說︰「約翰是用悔改的洗禮施洗的﹔他告訴人要信那在他以后來的，就是要信那穌。」
|
|
|
Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
|
|
19:5
|
他們聽了，就受洗禮歸于主耶穌的名﹔
|
|
|
When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
|
|
19:6
|
保羅給他們按手，聖靈便臨到他們﹔他們就卷舌頭說話，并傳講神言。
|
|
|
And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
|
|
19:7
|
一共約有十二個人。
|
|
|
And all the men were about twelve.
|
|
19:8
|
保羅進了會堂，一連三個月，放膽講論，辯論上帝國的事，勸導人相信。
|
|
|
And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.
|
|
19:9
|
后來有些人剛愎不信，在會眾面前誹謗這道路，保羅就離開他們，把門徒分別出來，在推喇奴講堂里天天辯論。
|
|
|
But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
|
|
19:10
|
這事行了兩年，以致凡住亞西亞的、都聽見主的道，不但有猶太人、也有希利尼人。
|
|
|
And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
|
|
19:11
|
上帝藉著保羅的手行了非常的異能，
|
|
|
And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
|
|
19:12
|
甚至連手巾或圍巾也從他肌膚上被帶走，去放在患病的人身上，疾病就消退，惡靈也出來。
|
|
|
So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
|
|
19:13
|
那時有几個來往各處、念咒趕鬼的猶太人也著手向有惡靈在身的人稱起主耶穌的名來，說︰「我指著保羅所宣傳的耶穌誓逐你們！」
|
|
|
Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the LORD Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
|
|
19:14
|
有一個猶太人士基瓦，是『祭司長』，他的七個兒子就是這樣行的。
|
|
|
And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
|
|
19:15
|
惡靈卻回答他們說︰「耶穌我認識，保羅我知道﹔你們呢、是誰？」
|
|
|
And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
|
|
19:16
|
有惡靈在身的那個人就扑在他們身上，制伏了兩個，勝過他們，以致他們都從那屋子里逃出來，赤著身子，受了傷。
|
|
|
And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
|
|
19:17
|
這件事、凡住以弗所的，無論是猶太人、是希利尼人、都知道﹔他們都起了敬畏的心，主耶穌的名就被尊為大。
|
|
|
And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.
|
|
19:18
|
已經信的、有許多人來，承認并報告自己所行的事。
|
|
|
And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds.
|
|
19:19
|
有好些行邪朮的人把書卷收集攏來，在眾人面前燒掉了。他們算計那價錢，便知道值五萬錠銀子。
|
|
|
Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
|
|
19:20
|
主的道是這樣帶有權能地興旺著，得勝著。
|
|
|
So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.
|
|
19:21
|
這些事完了、保羅心靈上定了主意、經過馬其頓亞該亞，就要往耶路撒冷去﹔他說︰「我到了那里以后，必須也看看羅馬。」
|
|
|
After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.
|
|
19:22
|
于是差遣服事他、的兩個人、提摩太和以拉都、往馬其頓去，自己卻暫時停留在亞西亞。
|
|
|
So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but he himself stayed in Asia for a season.
|
|
19:23
|
約當那時，關于這道路、起了不小的騷動。
|
|
|
And the same time there arose no small stir about that way.
|
|
19:24
|
有一個人名叫底米丟，是個銀匠，是制造亞底米銀龕的﹔他使這樣手藝的人得了不少的生意。
|
|
|
For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen;
|
|
19:25
|
他集合了他們、以及四圍這種手藝的工人，說︰「同人們，你們知道我們的財是由這個生意而發的。
|
|
|
Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth.
|
|
19:26
|
你們看，你們聽，不但在以弗所、也几乎在全亞西亞、這個保羅都唆誘了帶壞了好大群的人，說︰『那些用人手作的并不是神。』
|
|
|
Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:
|
|
19:27
|
這樣，不但我們這工業有陷于不名譽的危險，就是大女神亞底米的廟也被算為無物了，并且連全亞西亞和天下所敬拜的、她的威榮也將要消損了。」
|
|
|
So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.
|
|
19:28
|
他們聽見，就滿心暴怒，喊著說︰「偉大呀，以弗所人的亞底米！」
|
|
|
And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.
|
|
19:29
|
那城里滿了紛亂﹔他們就抓住保羅的旅伴、馬其頓人該猶和亞里達古，同心合意齊心地沖進戲園。
|
|
|
And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul's companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre.
|
|
19:30
|
保羅有意思要進去到民眾中間，門徒卻不容許他。
|
|
|
And when Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not.
|
|
19:31
|
還有几個亞西亞長、是跟保羅做朋友的、也打發人來見他，勸他不要自己投入戲園。
|
|
|
And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto him, desiring him that he would not adventure himself into the theatre.
|
|
19:32
|
當時有的喊這個，有的喊那個﹔那個會集紛紛亂亂，大多數人都不知道是為了什么而聚攏來。
|
|
|
Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was confused; and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together.
|
|
19:33
|
有人把亞力山大從群眾中蜂擁出來，猶太人又推他往前﹔亞力山大就擺手，想要對民眾分訴。
|
|
|
And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made his defence unto the people.
|
|
19:34
|
他們一認出他是猶太人，眾人中就發出一樣的聲音、約有兩個鐘頭，喊著說︰「偉大呀，以弗所人的亞底米！」
|
|
|
But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.
|
|
19:35
|
書記官叫群眾安靜了之后，就說︰「以弗所人哪，有什么人不知道以弗所城是亞底米和天降像的守殿者呢？
|
|
|
And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?
|
|
19:36
|
這些事既是駁不倒的，你們就該平心靜氣，別鹵莽妄為才是。
|
|
|
Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.
|
|
19:37
|
你們把這些人帶來︰他們既不是劫廟的，又不是褻瀆我們女神的。
|
|
|
For ye have brought hither these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess.
|
|
19:38
|
底米丟和他同行手藝的人若有案件告人，法庭都常開著，又有院省長，他們盡可對告。
|
|
|
Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another.
|
|
19:39
|
但你們若究問什么余外的事，那就可以在合法的集會里解決。
|
|
|
But if ye enquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.
|
|
19:40
|
關于今天的事、我們實在有被告為攪動亂事的危險，因為是無緣無故的。關于這事、這個鬧事的集合、我們也不能指出理由來。」
|
|
|
For we are in danger to be called in question for this day's uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse.
|
|
19:41
|
說了這些話，才把那會集解散了。
|
|
|
And when he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.
|
