所以我為主的緣故做囚犯的勸你們、行事為人要對得起你們所蒙（希臘文作『蒙呼召』）的呼召。

|
I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
|
|
4:2
|
要以完全的謙卑與柔和、用恆忍、在愛中彼此容忍，
|
|
|
With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
|
|
4:3
|
以和平之繩索竭力保守聖靈所賜合而為一的心。
|
|
|
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
|
|
4:4
|
因為只有一個身體、一位聖靈，正如你們的蒙召也只憑著一個指望而蒙召，
|
|
|
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
|
|
4:5
|
只有一位主、一樣信仰、一樣洗禮、
|
|
|
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
|
|
4:6
|
一位上帝、就是萬人的父、那超越萬有、貫澈萬有、在萬有之中的。
|
|
|
One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
|
|
4:7
|
但是恩典賜給我們每一個人、卻是按照基督白白的恩之分量。
|
|
|
But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
|
|
4:8
|
所以經上說︰「他升上了高處，擄了無數的俘虜，將贈品賜給人。」
|
|
|
Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
|
|
4:9
|
﹝說『他升上』去，除非說他曾降到地底下的境界、是什么意思呢？
|
|
|
(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
|
|
4:10
|
那降下的、就是那升上去、遠超諸天、以充滿萬有的。﹞
|
|
|
He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
|
|
4:11
|
他賜給人的、有的做使徒，有的做神言傳講師，有的做傳福音者，有的做牧人做教師，
|
|
|
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
|
|
4:12
|
為給聖徒裝備以作服役的事，以建立基督的身體，
|
|
|
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
|
|
4:13
|
直到我們眾人對上帝的兒子都有一致的信仰和認識，能夠長大成人，滿有基督的丰滿成年身材的量，
|
|
|
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
|
|
4:14
|
使我們不再做孩童、像波浪漂來漂去，被各樣教義的風帶前帶后，就是人用欺騙手段、用狡猾施展謬妄之詭計造出來的。
|
|
|
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
|
|
4:15
|
但我們總要以愛心持守真理，各方面長大、直到長成了基督︰基督就是元首。
|
|
|
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
|
|
4:16
|
本著他，全身藉著所供應的各關節、照每一部分、依其分量、所運用的效力、互相聯接，彼此結聯，使身體漸漸長大，在愛中建立自己。
|
|
|
From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
|
|
4:17
|
所以我說，并在主里鄭重地勸吉︰你們行事為人、不要再像外國人憑心思之虛妄而行。
|
|
|
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
|
|
4:18
|
他們心神昏暗，因自己里面的無知、因心中的頑梗、而跟上帝的生命隔絕。
|
|
|
Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
|
|
4:19
|
這種人既已才木，就把自己放給邪蕩，以貪婪從事于各樣污穢的作為。
|
|
|
Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
|
|
4:20
|
但你們呢、你們學了基督、就不是這樣。
|
|
|
But ye have not so learned Christ;
|
|
4:21
|
假定你們確已聽過他、在他里面受過教訓、的話──﹝因為『真實』（或譯『真理』）是在耶穌里面﹞。
|
|
|
If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
|
|
4:22
|
你們乃是要脫去那依故態而起居的舊人、順著誘惑人之私欲而漸漸敗壞的舊人，
|
|
|
That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
|
|
4:23
|
讓你們心思之靈質上重化為新造的、
|
|
|
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
|
|
4:24
|
而穿上新人，那依上帝之聖質形像而被創造的新人，創造于真實中之正義和虔聖的。
|
|
|
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
|
|
4:25
|
所以你們要脫去虛謊，各人同鄰舍說實話，因為我們是互相為肢體的。
|
|
|
Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
|
|
4:26
|
你們發怒，別犯罪了﹔別在日頭落時還在激怒了﹔
|
|
|
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
|
|
4:27
|
別給魔鬼留地步了。
|
|
|
Neither give place to the devil.
|
|
4:28
|
偷竊的別再偷竊了﹔寧可勞苦、親手作正經事，好有敷余、可分給缺乏的人。
|
|
|
Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
|
|
4:29
|
任何壞話都別說出口了﹔卻要說按需要能建立人的好話，好將溫雅之恩給聽的人。
|
|
|
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
|
|
4:30
|
別叫上帝的聖靈擔憂了﹔你們是受他印記作質定、以待得贖放之日子的。
|
|
|
And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
|
|
4:31
|
一切苦恨、暴怒、忿怒、嚷鬧、毀謗（或譯『謗才』）、連同一切惡毒（或譯︰『陰毒』）、都要從你們中間除掉。
|
|
|
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
|
|
4:32
|
你們彼此相待、要有慈惠，有憐憫的心腸、互相饒恕，正如上帝在基督里饒恕了你們一樣。
|
|
|
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
