1:1

基督耶穌的仆人保羅和提摩太、寫信給在腓立比在基督耶穌里的眾聖徒同諸位監督諸位執事（與『仆役』一詞同字）。

Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Phl ippi, with the bishops and deacons:

1:2

愿你們、由上帝我們的父和主耶穌基督、蒙恩平安。

Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

1:3

我每逢想念你們，就感謝我的上帝。

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

1:4

我每一次為你們眾人祈求的時候，我總是歡歡喜喜祈求的。

Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,

1:5

我感謝上帝，因為從頭一天到如今、你們在福音之推廣上就有了分。

For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;

1:6

我深信那在你們身上開始了善工的、到基督耶穌的日子總必作成它。

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

1:7

我為你們眾人存著這個意念、原是正當的，因為我把你們放在心上，不但在受捆鎖之中、而且在辯護和証實福音的時候、你們眾人在恩惠上都和我一同有分。

Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.

1:8

上帝給我作証，我是怎樣以基督耶穌的熱心腸切慕著你們眾人的。

For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.

1:9

我所禱告的是要你們的愛心充盈而又滿溢，滿有真認識和各樣的審察力，

And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

1:10

使你們能試驗什么是美好的事（或譯『能辨別是非』）好成為純潔而無過失的人，以待基督的日子，

That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;

1:11

充滿了那藉著耶穌基督而有的仁義果子，使上帝得到榮耀與稱贊。

Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

1:12

弟兄們，我愿你們明白我的景況反而促成了福音之進步，

But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;

1:13

以致我的受捆鎖、在御營全軍和其余眾人中間，顯明了是為基督的緣故而受的，

So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;

1:14

并且在主里面的弟兄、大多數因我的受捆鎖、就都深信不疑，越發大膽無懼講論上帝之道。

And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

1:15

有的人宣傳基督、竟是為了嫉妒和分爭﹔有的人呢、倒是為了善意。

Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:

1:16

后一種人是出于愛心，知道我是為了辯護福音而受派的。

The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:

1:17

前一種人之傳揚基督呢、卻是出于營私爭勝的心，不清清潔潔地傳，只想在我的鎖才中另外引起困苦罷了。

But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.

1:18

這能怎么樣呢？反正用各樣方法罷，或用掩飾、或用真誠、基督究竟是被傳揚了。在這事上我倒歡喜，并且還要歡喜。

What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

1:19

因為我知道、藉著你們的祈求、以及耶穌基督的靈之供應，這件事的結果終必使我得救的。

For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

1:20

按著我熱切的期待和盼望、在任何事上我都不至于羞愧，倒能以十二分放膽的心、或藉著活、或藉著死、總讓基督在我身體上、現今仍和素常一樣、都被尊為大。

According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

1:21

因為在我看，活著就是基督，死去也是贏得。

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

1:22

但若繼續在肉身活著呢，這能讓我多結工作的果子﹔那我要怎樣選擇呢、我也不曉得。

But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.

1:23

我被困迫于兩難之間，一方面切愿著撤離世間、去和基督同在，那更好得多﹔

For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

1:24

不過仍然住在肉身里呢，為著你們的緣故倒更必須。

Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

1:25

我既然這樣深信，就知道還要存活，并且要和你們眾一同存活，使你們得到信仰上的進步和喜樂，

And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;

1:26

使你們所夸我的、因我的再來和你們在一起、得以在基督耶穌里越發充盈滿溢。

That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.

1:27

不過你們作公民、要對得起基督的福音，仗我或者來、而見著你們，或者不在一起、而是只聽見你們的情形，得知你們都有一樣的精神站穩，一心一意為福音的信仰共同競斗，

Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

1:28

在任何事上都不被敵人所驚嚇。這在他們是滅亡的豫兆，在你們卻是得救的明証，而這明証乃是從上帝而來的。

And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

1:29

因為已經恩賜你們、為了基督的緣故、不但得以信靠他，而且得以替他受苦，

For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

1:30

從事于你們先前在我身上所看到，如今又在我身上所聽到的、這同樣的奮斗。

Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
