親愛的，我祈愿你身體康健，諸事平安順逐，正如你的靈魂平安順逐一樣。

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
|

|
我很歡喜有弟兄來、見証你的真誠，你也真地這樣行。
|
|
|
For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.

|
我聽說我的兒女們都在真理中行，我的喜樂沒有比這個大的。
|
|
|
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
|

|
親愛的，凡你向弟兄們──又是做旅客者──所行的、都是忠信的行為。
|
|
|
Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;

|
他們曾在教會面前見証你的愛。請以對得起上帝的方式、好好地給他們送行﹔
|
|
|
Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:
|

|
因為他們為了基督的名而出外，并沒有從外國人們接受什么。
|
|
|
Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
|

因此我門應該贊助這樣的人，使我們可以為真理而同工合作（或譯︰跟真理合作同工）。
|
|
|
We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.
|

|
我曾經略略地給教會寫信﹔但他們中間好做領袖的丟特腓不承認我們。
|
|
|
I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
|

|
故此我無論什么時候去，總要提起他的所作所為︰他怎樣用壞話胡亂抨擊我們﹔還不以此為足﹔不但他自己不接待弟兄們，連那些有意思要接待的、他也禁止，甚至試要趕出教會。

|
Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.

親愛的，別效法惡了，要效法善。行善的屬于上帝﹔行惡的沒有見過上帝。
|
|
|
Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

|
底米丟曾得了眾人的証許，也得了真理本身的証許。我們呢、也作見証﹔你知道我們的見証是真實的。
|
|
|
Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.

我原有許多話要寫給你，現在倒不想用筆墨來寫給你﹔
|
|
|
I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee:

我是盼望快快地見你，我們才親口相對地說。

But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.
