以下是永恆主的話，就是當猶大王亞們的兒子約西亞執政的時候傳與希西家的玄孫亞瑪利雅的曾孫基大利的孫子古示的兒子西番雅。

|
The word of the LORD which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hizkiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.
|
|
1:2
|
永恆主發神諭說︰「我必從地面上澈底掃滅一切。
|
|
|
I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith the LORD.
|
|
1:3
|
我必除掃滅人和獸，掃滅空中的飛鳥、以及海里的魚。我必使惡人垮倒（傳統︰倒下來的廢堆），將人從地面上剪除掉」︰永恆主發神諭說。
|
|
|
I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumbling blocks with the wicked: and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD.
|
|
1:4
|
我必伸手攻擊猶大和耶路撒冷所有的居民，也必從這地方將所有的巴力（即︰外國人的神）連巴力祭司的名字（此處有『同祭司們』一詞）都剪除掉到一無所剩﹔
|
|
|
I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests;
|
|

|
剪除那些在房頂上敬拜天上萬象的，剪除那些敬拜永恆主，指著永恆主來起誓、又指著米勒公（傳統︰瑪勒堪﹝他們的王、亞捫人的神的名﹞）來起誓的，
|
|
|
And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham;
|
|
1:6
|
剪除那些退轉而不跟從永恆主的，那些不尋求永恆主、不求問他的。」
|
|
|
And them that are turned back from the LORD; and those that have not sought the LORD, nor enquired for him.
|
|
1:7
|
你要在主永恆主面前屏息肅靜，因為永恆主的日子臨近了，因為永恆主已經豫備了祭物，將他請的客人分別為聖。
|
|
|
Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD is at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests.
|
|
1:8
|
當我永恆主宰祭的日子、「我必察罰首領和王子，以及一切穿著外族服裝的人。
|
|
|
And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD's sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.
|
|
1:9
|
當那日我必察罰一切跳過門限的，察罰那些將強暴和詭詐充滿于其主上之房屋的。」
|
|
|
In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters' houses with violence and deceit.
|
|
1:10
|
永恆主發神諭說︰「當那日必有哀叫的聲音從魚門發出，必有哀號聲從第二區出來，有極大的破毀聲從眾山丘傳開。
|
|
|
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an howling from the second, and a great crashing from the hills.
|
|
1:11
|
臼狀窪地的居民哪，哀號哦！因為迦南的商民都完啦﹔凡運銀子買賣的都被剪除。
|
|
|
Howl, ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are cut down; all they that bear silver are cut off.
|
|
1:12
|
那時我必拿燈探照耶路撒冷，我必察罰那些懶惰人（傳統︰人。今調換字母譯之），那些沉澱于糟渣上的，那些心里想著說︰『永恆主必不降福，也不降禍』的。
|
|
|
And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.
|
|
1:13
|
他們的資財必成為掠物，他們的房屋必變成了荒場﹔他們必建造房屋，卻不得居住，必栽種葡萄園，卻不得喝所出的酒。」
|
|
|
Therefore their goods shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine thereof.
|
|
1:14
|
永恆主的大日臨近了，臨近而來得極快﹔永恆主的日子比奔跑的人輕快，比勇士迅速（傳統︰永恆主日子的響聲悲苦，勇士那里必沉痛地哭號）。
|
|
|
The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
|
|
1:15
|
那日是永恆主震怒的日子，是急難窘迫的日子，是荒廢淒涼的日子，是黑暗墨黑的日子，是密云暗霧的日子，
|
|
|
That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,
|
|
1:16
|
是吹號角吶喊的日子，要攻擊有堡壘的城，攻擊高聳的城角樓。
|
|
|
A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.
|
|
1:17
|
我必緊逼著人，以致他們行走像瞎眼的，因為他們犯罪得罪了永恆主﹔他們的血必倒出如灰塵，他們的內臟（意難確定。或譯︰他們的肉）必被拋棄如糞土。
|
|
|
And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.
|
|
1:18
|
當永恆主震怒的日子、他們的銀子或金子都不能援救他們﹔但在永恆主妒憤的怒火中全地都被燒滅﹔因為他必將這地所有的居民完全毀滅，而且很可怕地毀滅。
|
|
|
Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
