5:1

伯沙撒王為他的一千大臣擺設了盛筵，跟這一千人對面喝酒。

Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.

5:2

當伯沙撒喝酒歡暢的時候，他吩咐人將他父親（或譯︰祖父）尼布甲尼撒從耶路撒冷里面殿堂中所掠取的金銀器皿拿來，王和大臣王后妃嬪好用這些器皿來喝酒。

Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.

5:3

于是人就把從耶路撒冷里面上帝殿中、就是殿堂中、所掠取的金銀器皿拿了來﹔王和大臣王后妃嬪就用這些器皿來喝酒。

Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.

5:4

他們喝酒，稱頌了金銀銅獫木頭石頭的神。

They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

5:5

立刻有人手的指頭伸出來（同詞︰拿來），在王家宮殿的粉牆上、燈台相對的地方、寫字﹔王見了寫字的手掌。

In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.

5:6

王就變了氣色，他的思想使他驚惶﹔他的腰骨好像脫了節，雙膝直彼此相碰。

Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.

5:7

王使勁地喊著，吩咐人將那些用法朮的、那些迦勒底博學的人、和占卜的、領進來。王應時對巴比倫的博士說︰「什么人能讀這文字，把它的解析向我講明白的、他就可以穿紫紅色袍，脖子上帶金鏈，在國中掌權、居第三位。」

The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.

5:8

于是王所有的博士都進了來，卻不能讀那文字，也不能把解析告訴王。

Then came in all the king's wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.

5:9

伯沙撒王就很驚惶，氣色突變，他的大臣也都驚愕失措。

Then was king Belshazzar greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were astonied.

5:10

太后因王和他的大臣所說的話，就進了宴宮﹔太后應時說︰「愿王萬歲！你的思想可別使你驚惶哦﹔氣面可不要變哦！

Now the queen by reason of the words of the king and his lords came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:

5:11

在你國中有一個人，他里頭有聖神明之靈。你父在世的日子，發現這人心中有亮光、有通達，有智慧，好像神明的智慧﹔你父尼布甲尼撒王（此處原有︰王你的父）曾經立了他為朮士及用法朮的、跟迦勒底博學的人和占卜者、的領袖﹔

There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;

5:12

都因為在他里頭、在但以理心里、有非常高超之靈，有知識，有通達，能講明夢的解析，能釋謎語，能解難題的結──這但以理、王又給他起名叫伯提沙撒︰現在可以把但以理召來﹔他一定能把解析講明白。」

Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

5:13

于是但以理就被領進到王面前。王應時問但以理說︰「你就是但以理么，就是在猶大被擄的人之中、我王我父從猶大擄來的那位么？

Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?

5:14

我聽到你的事了，聽說你有聖神之靈（或譯︰至聖上帝之靈），說你里面有亮光，有通達，有非常高超的智慧。

I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.

5:15

現在博士跟用法朮的都被領到我面前，為要叫他們讀這文字，把它的解析告訴我，無奈他們都不能把這話的解析講出來。

And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing:

5:16

但是我聽到了你的事了，聽說你善于解析，能解難題的結。現在你若能讀這文字，把解析告訴我，就可以穿上紫紅色袍，脖子上戴金鏈，在國中掌權、居第三位。」

And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.

5:17

但以理就在王面前回答說︰「你的贈品可以歸你自己，你的賞報可以給予別人﹔然而我卻要為王讀這文字，把解析告訴王。

Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

5:18

王阿，至高的上帝曾將國位、大權、尊榮、威嚴、賜給你父尼布甲尼撒﹔

O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:

5:19

因于上帝所賜給他的大權、各族之民、列國之民、各種方言的人就都在他面前戰兢恐懼︰他喜歡殺誰、就殺誰，喜歡讓誰活著、就讓誰活著，他喜歡讓誰升高、就讓誰升高，喜歡讓誰降低、就讓誰降低。

And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.

5:20

但他心高氣傲，剛愎自用，就從他的國位上黜落下來，他的尊榮就被褫奪。

But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

5:21

他被趕逐離開人類﹔他的心變如走獸的心﹔他的住處同野驢在一起﹔他受迫而吃草如牛﹔他的身體被天露滴濕，等到他承認至高上帝在人國中掌權，都隨著自己的意旨立人來管理。

And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.

5:22

而你呢，伯沙撒阿，你是他的兒子，你雖知道這一切，你心仍不自己謙卑，

And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;

5:23

竟對著天上的主高抬自己，叫人把他殿中的器皿拿到你面前，你和你大臣、王后、妃嬪竟用這些器皿來喝酒﹔你又稱頌那些金銀銅獫、木頭石頭的神，就是那些不能看、不能聽、不能知道的﹔至于你手中執掌你氣息、那管理你一生行程的上帝、你卻不將尊榮歸與他。

But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:

5:24

「于是從『神在』那里就有手掌伸出，這文字便題簽出來。

Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.

5:25

以下這句就是所題簽的文字︰『彌尼，彌尼，提客勒，烏法珥新。』

And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

5:26

這話的解析是這樣︰『彌尼』即是︰『上帝已經數算了你執掌國政的年日，使它終止』﹔

This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

5:27

『提客勒』即是︰『你被稱在天平里，被發現為虧欠的』﹔

TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

5:28

『才勒斯』（此為『法珥新』一詞之單數式﹔亦與『波斯』一詞同字母）即是︰『你的國崩裂了、歸與瑪代和波斯人。」

PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

5:29

于是伯沙撒下了令，人就把紫紅色袍給但以理穿上，把金鏈給他帶在脖子上﹔又傳出有關于他的公布︰使他在國中掌權、居第三位。

Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

5:30

就在那一夜、迦勒底王伯沙撒就被弒殺了。

In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.

5:31

（亞蘭文作但6︰1）瑪代人大利烏就取了迦勒底國﹔那時大利烏約六十二歲。

And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.
