這些事以后、亞哈隨魯王使亞甲族哈米大他的兒子哈曼甚為尊大﹔他高升了他，使他的座位高過和他同事的一切大臣。

|
After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.
|
|
3:2
|
在御門那里的、王的一切臣仆都屈身下拜哈曼，因為關于哈曼的事、王曾經這樣吩咐。惟獨末底改卻不屈身，不下拜。
|
|
|
And all the king's servants, that were in the king's gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.
|
|
3:3
|
在御門那里的、王的臣仆便問末底改說︰「為什么惟獨你越犯王的命令呢？」
|
|
|
Then the king's servants, which were in the king's gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king's commandment?
|
|
3:4
|
他們天天勸他，他還是不聽，他們就告訴哈曼，要看末底改的事站得住站不住，因為他已經把自己是猶大人告訴他們。
|
|
|
Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew.
|
|
3:5
|
哈曼見末底改不屈身，不向他下拜，就烈怒填胸。
|
|
|
And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.
|
|
3:6
|
他們既把末底改屬哪一民族的事告訴了哈曼，哈曼就以為單下手害末底改一人是有損了威風，就想法子要將亞哈隨魯王全國所有的猶大人、末底改的本族、都消滅掉。
|
|
|
And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.
|
|
3:7
|
亞哈隨魯王十二年正月，就是尼散月（即︰公歷三四月之間）、人在哈曼面前抽『普珥』，就是抽簽，天天抽，月月抽，結果抽中了十二月，就是亞達月（即︰公歷二三月之間）。
|
|
|
In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.
|
|
3:8
|
哈曼對亞哈隨魯王說︰「有一族之民散居在王國內各省各族之民間，而又自己隔開︰他們的法例跟各族的法例不同﹔王的法例他們也不遵行﹔所以由著他們、對于王最不妥當。
|
|
|
And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.
|
|
3:9
|
王若以為好，就請下敕令殺滅他們﹔我就秤出一萬擔（一擔重的等于一二九﹒九七磅﹔輕的等于一零八﹒二九磅）銀子，由管事人經手、運入王的府庫。」
|
|
|
If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries.
|
|
3:10
|
于是王脫下了手上的打印戒指，給猶大人的敵人、亞甲族哈米大他的兒子哈曼。
|
|
|
And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews' enemy.
|
|
3:11
|
對哈曼說︰「這銀子仍賜給你，這人民也交給你，你看怎樣好，就怎么待他們好啦。」
|
|
|
And the king said unto Haman, The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.
|
|
3:12
|
正月十三日王的書記們就被召了來，照哈曼一切所吩咐的，寫下了敕令、給王的眾藩臣，給一省一省的巡撫，給一族一族的首領﹔一省一省用自己的文字，一族一族用自己的方言﹔奉亞哈隨魯王的名寫的，又用王的打印戒指蓋上了印的。

Then were the king's scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king's ring.

|
詔書由跑文書的人經手送到王的各省，說要在一日之間、在十二月、就是亞達月、十三日，將所有的猶大人、無論老少幼小或婦女、全都消滅屠殺滅盡，并且奪取他們的資財作為掠物。
|
|
|
And the letters were sent by posts into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.
|
|
3:14
|
詔書本子寫成了敕令，頒到各省，向各族之民披露，叫他們准備好了、等候那一天。
|
|
|
The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that they should be ready against that day.
|
|
3:15
|
跑文書的人領著王命急急忙忙地出發，敕令在書珊宮堡里頒布出去。王和哈曼坐下來喝酒﹔書珊城卻慌慌亂亂。
|
|
|
The posts went out, being hastened by the king's commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed.
