23:1

于是他們全群的眾人都起來，把耶穌帶到彼拉多面前，

And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.

23:2

開始控告他說︰「我們查出這個人扭轉我們民族的心，攔阻人納頁銀給該撒，并說自己是上帝所膏立者基督，是王。」

And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.

23:3

于是彼拉多問耶穌說︰「你是猶太人的王么？」耶穌回答他說︰「你說的是。」

And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.

23:4

彼拉多對祭司長和群眾說︰「我查不出這人有什么罪狀。」

Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.

23:5

他們卻越極力地說︰「他鼓勵民眾，沿全猶太教訓人，從加利利起，直到這里了。」

And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.

23:6

彼拉多一聽見這話，就詰問這人是不是加利利人。

When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean.

23:7

既確知了耶穌是屬于希律權下的，就把他送上去給希律﹔當這几天、希律本人也在耶路撒冷。

And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.

23:8

希律看見耶穌，就極其歡喜﹔他因為聽見過耶穌的事，好久以來就想要看看他，并指望看見神跡由他手里行出來。

And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.

23:9

于是用好些話問耶穌﹔耶穌呢、什么都不回答他。

Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.

23:10

祭司長和經學士都站著，極力控告他。

And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.

23:11

希律同他的兵藐視他，戲弄他，給他被上華麗的衣服，把他送回給彼拉多。

And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.

23:12

就在那一天，希律和彼拉多就彼此成了朋友﹔他們從前老是互相為敵的。

And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.

23:13

彼拉多就叫齊了祭司長、議員和民眾，

And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,

23:14

對他們說︰「你們把這個人解到我這里來，說他是叫人民轉離正軌的。你看，我己經在你們面前審問了，查不出這人有你們所控告他的罪狀。

Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:

23:15

就是希律也查不出﹔因為他把他送回我們這里來了。你看，什么該死的事、他都沒有作過呀。

No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.

23:16

故此我要責打他，給釋放了。」

I will therefore chastise him, and release him.

23:17

（有古卷加︰『每當這節期，總督必須釋放一個囚犯給民眾。』亦有以此節置諸19節之后的）

(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)

23:18

他們卻一齊高聲喊著說︰「除掉這個人，釋放巴拉巴給我們。」

And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:

23:19

這巴拉巴原是因城里起了亂，因了凶殺案而下在監里的。（此處有古卷有第17節經文）

(Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)

23:20

彼拉多想要釋放耶穌，就再對他們陳述。

Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.

23:21

無奈他們直喊叫說︰「釘他十字架，釘他十字架！」

But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.

23:22

彼拉多第三次對他們說︰「這個人作了什么惡事呢？我查不出他有該死的罪狀呀。故此我要責打他，給釋放了。」

And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.

23:23

他們卻大聲地逼著求，叫他受釘十字架﹔他們的聲音竟得勝了。

And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.

23:24

彼拉多這才宣判︰他們所求的可以照辦﹔

And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.

23:25

便釋放他們所求的、那因亂事和凶殺案而下在監里的那個人﹔至于耶穌呢、他卻交出來，去任憑他們的意思行。

And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

23:26

把耶穌帶走的時候，他們拉住了一個從鄉下來的古利奈人西門，把十字架擱在他身上，叫在耶穌后面背著。

And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.

23:27

有一大群民眾、其中有好些婦女、跟著耶穌﹔婦女們直為耶穌捶胸哀號。

And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.

23:28

耶穌轉過身來，對她們說︰「耶路撒冷的女子阿，別為我哭了！只要為你們自己和你們的兒女哭。

But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.

23:29

因為日子必到，你就看吧，那時人必說︰『那不能生育的、那沒有生產過的胎、沒有乳養過的胸、有福阿！』

For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.

23:30

那時人必對山說起話來說︰『倒在我們身上吧！』必對小山說︰『遮蓋我們吧！』

Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.

23:31

因為在有汁水的樹上、他們既作了這些事，在枯乾的樹上、會怎么樣呢？」

For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?

23:32

另有兩個人、是犯人、也被帶去，要跟耶穌一同被殺掉。

And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.

23:33

他們既到了那叫頭蓋骨的地方，就在那里把耶穌釘十字架，又釘了那兩個犯人，一個在右邊，一個在左邊。

And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

23:34

耶穌說︰「父阿，赦免他們，因為他們所作的、他們不曉得。」（有古卷無34上半節）他們分了耶穌的衣裳，拈了鬮。

Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

23:35

民眾站著觀看，議員們卻嗤笑著說︰「別人他救了﹔這個人如果是上帝所膏立的，是那蒙揀選的，讓他救自己吧。」

And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.

23:36

士兵也戲弄他，上前去，把酸酒送上去給他，

And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,

23:37

說︰「你如果是猶太人的王，救你自己吧。」

And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.

23:38

在他上邊并且有標題寫著說︰「這是猶太人的王！」

And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

23:39

被懸挂的犯人、有一個才謗他說︰「你不是基督么？救你自己和我們吧！」

And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

23:40

那另一個應時責備他說︰「你既是受同樣處刑的，你連上帝還不怕么？

But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

23:41

我們呢、是按公義受刑罰的，因為我們所受的、正與我們所行的相稱﹔但這個人呢、并沒有行過橫逆不道的事呀。」

And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

23:42

就說︰「耶穌阿，你進你國（有古卷作︰『你帶著你的國權來臨』按『國』字與『國權』原系同字根）的時候、請記得我。」

And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

23:43

耶穌對他說︰「我實在告訴你，今天你就要同我在樂園里了。」

And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

23:44

這時候大約是中午十二點（希臘文︰第六時辰），黑暗布滿了整個地方，直到下午三點（希臘文︰第九時辰），

And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

23:45

日光消失（有古卷作︰變黑）了﹔殿堂里的幔子從當中裂開了。

And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.

23:46

耶穌大聲呼喊說︰「父阿，我將我的靈托付在你手里。」說了這話，就斷了氣。

And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

23:47

百夫長看見所經過的事，就將榮耀歸與上帝說︰「實在地、這個人是個義人哪！」

Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.

23:48

所有到場來要看這景象的群眾、見了所經過的事、都捶著胸膛回去。

And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.

23:49

所有同耶穌熟識的人、和那些從加利利一路跟隨著他的婦女們、都在遠處站著，看這些事。

And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.

23:50

有一個人名叫約瑟，是個議員，是良善正義的人。

And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:

23:51

這人并沒有附和眾人的計謀和行為。他是猶太的亞利馬太城的人，他素來期望著上帝的國。

(The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.

23:52

這人上去見彼拉多，求耶穌的身體。

This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.

23:53

他把身體取下來，用細麻布裹好了，將他安放在一個石頭鑿成的塋墓里，是從未有人安放過的。

And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.

23:54

那一天是豫備日傍晚，安息日快到（同詞︰天快亮）了。

And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.

23:55

那些從加利利和耶穌一同來的婦女們跟隨著、看那墳墓，并看耶穌的身體怎樣地安放，

And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.

23:56

然后回去，豫備香料香膏。安息日便遵照誡命靜歇著。

And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.
