便雅憫地亞拿突城的祭司中、希勒家的兒子耶利米、的言行記在下面。

The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:

1:2

當猶大王亞們的兒子約西亞的日子，他執政的十三年那時候，永恆主的話傳與耶利米。

To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

1:3

當猶大王約西亞的兒子約雅敬的日子，直到猶大王約西亞的兒子西底家十一年底，直到五月間耶路撒冷人流亡的時候，永恆主的話都常常傳與耶利米。

It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.

1:4

永恆主的話傳與我，說︰

Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

1:5

「我未將你形成在你母腹中，就已認識了你﹔你未出母胎，我就將你分別為聖﹔派了你做列國的神言人。」

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

1:6

我就說︰「阿，主永恆主阿，你看﹔我不曉得說話，因為我年輕。」

Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.

1:7

永恆主對我說︰「你不要說『我年輕』﹔因為我差遣你去見誰，你都要去﹔我吩咐你說什么話，你都要說。

But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

1:8

你不要懼怕他們，因為是我與你同在，要援救你︰這是永恆主發神諭說的。」

Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

1:9

于是永恆主伸手觸著我的口。永恆主對我說︰「看哪，我將我的話放你口中。

Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

1:10

瞧吧，我今日立了你來管列邦列國，是要拔除，要拆毀，要毀滅，要傾覆，要建立，要栽植。」

See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

1:11

永恆主的話傳與我，說︰「耶利米阿，你看見什么？」我說︰「我看見一根杏樹枝子。」

Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.

1:12

永恆主對我說︰「你看得不錯，因為我正在警戒關顧（與上『杏樹』一詞子音相同，讀音相似）我的話、來作成它。」

Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.

1:13

永恆主的話第二次傳與我，說︰「你看見什么？」我說︰「我看見一個爐風大吹的鍋，它的面從北方而來的。」

And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.

1:14

永恆主對我說︰「必有災禍從北方爆發，來到這地所有的居民。

Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.

1:15

因為，你看吧，永恆主發神諭說︰我必召北方列國的眾族﹔他們必來，各安座位在耶路撒冷的城門口，周圍攻擊所有的城牆，攻擊猶大所有的城。

For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.

1:16

至于這人民所有的壞事，就是離棄了我、向別的神熏祭、敬拜自己手所造的、這些事︰我就要說出我的判語，來定他們的罪。

And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.

1:17

因此你，務要束腰，站立起來，將我所吩咐你的一切話告訴他們﹔不要因他們而驚慌，免得我使你在他們面前膽怯。

Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.

1:18

而我呢、看哪，我今日乃是使你成為堡壘城，成為獫柱、銅牆、以抵御全地，敵擋猶大的列王和首領、她的祭司、和國內的眾民。

For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.

1:19

他們必攻擊你，卻不能制勝你﹔因為是我與你同在、要援救你︰這是永恆主發神諭說的。」

And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.
